STUDY VISIT

Yesterday, on 7 November, Centre of Languages and Communication had the pleasure and privilege to host Thomas Vogel from Viadrina University, Germany..
Thomas Vogel is a Former Director of the Foreign Language Centre at the Viadrina European University Frankfurt (Oder, Germany). He was the President of the German Association of University Language Centres (AKS. e.V.) from 1998-2008, a founder and partner of Viadrina sprachen gmbh.
He is also the Founder of the Wulkow Group, a key group of directors of language centres in higher education in Europe.
We shared ideas during a discussion on the following topics:

  • New role in a multilingual society: catering for the multilingual individual and providing ideas for successful integration
  • Intercultural communication and intercultural awareness in a multilingual and multicultural society
  • The language centre as a learning space
  • Defining the identity of a language teacher
  • New didactics: Looking at language learning contexts in general immersion learning and teaching
  • Digitilisation in Project-Based Learning (PBL)
  • Closing the gap between kindergarten-school-university
  • Our role as model for intercultural communication in times of war
