The CEFR Companion Volume: Mediation and other key concepts

This project supports member states, institutions, and language professionals in understanding and implementing key concepts from the CEFR Companion Volume, with a particular focus on mediation. It aims to strengthen the quality of language education by helping stakeholders integrate mediation related approaches into curricula, assessment, and teaching practice.
Objectives
Core issues addressed include:
- Deepening understanding of mediation as a key communicative mode and its role in facilitating communication across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
- Integrating the updated CEFR descriptors related to mediation and plurilingual/pluricultural competence into curricula, assessment systems, and everyday pedagogical practice.
- Supporting national authorities and local experts in adapting CEFR aligned approaches to meet the needs of their specific educational contexts.
- Strengthening teacher competences and improving the overall quality of language education through targeted workshops, consultancy, and capacity building activities.
